MOTIVATION - BACKGROUND
Due to the elevation profile, there are many locations in the district of Wesermarsch that are only accessible to a limited extent in the event of flooding. This flood risk was the starting point for the district of Wesermarsch to participate in the INTERREG V project FRAMES (Flood Resiliant Areas and MultilayEr Safety) in the period from 2015 - 2020. The Frames project held its first Flood Protection Day in 2019.
The aim of the Flood Protection Day is to raise public awareness of flood situations and multi-day power outages, as well as to strengthen self-preparedness.
The LifeGRID project was launched on the basis of the knowledge gained in the Frames project. The district of Wesermarsch is in charge of the 2nd funding phase (implementation phase) of the LifeGRID project.
